Kentucky Officially Opts-in to Federal Scholarship Tax Credit Program
We're excited to share an important update on the future of educational opportunity in Kentucky. Yesterday afternoon, Secretary of State Michael Adams signed the IRS form officially enrolling Kentucky in the K-12 Federal Scholarship Tax Credit Program made possible by Kentucky HB 1.
In his remarks Secretary Adams explained that through this opt-in Kentucky can now participate in private donor contributions that will generate additional funding opportunities for ALL Kentucky students not just those in private or alternative settings. As Secretary Adams put it, "upward mobility is a central issue of our time." FSTC is not a voucher program and it does not direct additional state dollars toward K-12 education.
Rep. TJ Roberts was present and spoke to how Kentucky's participation will open new educational opportunities for all Kentucky students, regardless of where they live or what school they attend. Additionally, Rep. James Tipton was in attendance and has been a consistent voice for improving educational outcomes in Kentucky.
We'll continue to keep you updated as SGO guidelines are released by the Secretary of State’s office and this program moves forward. Thank you for your continued support of educational choice in Kentucky. In the interim, please visit our website at edchoiceky.com for more information or email us with any questions.
We are excited for what the future holds for Kentucky's students!
