School Choice Prevails in Kentucky!

The Kentucky Senate finished the business that started in the House, and Governor Beshear’s veto of HB 1 was overridden!

The pathway for school choice in Kentucky is now clear.  The Kentucky Secretary of State will opt in to the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit program and notify the Secretary of the U.S. Treasury of approved Scholarship Granting Organizations that may accept donations starting in January 2027.

It took Kentucky nine years to get to this point, and we all owe a great deal of thanks to our Legislators for their tenacity in making this a reality. All K-12 students, public and private, may now have access to financial assistance to improve their education.
